Software Solutions

At Qualus, we are actively contributing to the digital transformation of electric utilities by developing and implementing software solutions from initial concept through commercialization. The cumulative expertise of our digital solutions team—which represents industry-leading experience in software development, computer science and electrical engineering—serves as a powerful catalyst for research and development of new technologies and solutions. A few examples of some of our solutions include Grid Emergency Management (GEM), PIVA (Photovoltaic Integration via Virtual Airgap), and AIRIS (AI Renewable Interconnection Siting).

  • Grid Emergency Management (GEM)

GEM is a first-of-its-kind software-as-a-service (SaaS). GEM delivers a utility-specific, all-hazards emergency management solution that elevates operational resilience. It extends situational awareness across all internal and external teams, automates essential workflows for maximum productivity, and ensures secure, real-time collaboration with cross jurisdiction parties. GEM enables utilities to maintain control over data sharing by role, ensuring the right information reaches the right people at the right time to facilitate swift, informed decision-making during emergencies. By integrating historical event data, future predictive modeling as AI matures, and seamless communication, GEM empowers utilities to anticipate challenges and improve response efficiency during both real-world crises and tabletop exercises.

  • PIVA (Photovoltaic Integration via Virtual Airgap)

PIVA was developed to provide a cloud-based integration layer that decouples photovoltaic data collection from mission-critical power utility operations technology systems. It will enable the use of virtual airgaps to integrate behind-the-meter PV solar devices into utility operations without additional exposure to cybersecurity risks.

  • AIRIS (AI Renewable Interconnection Siting)

AIRIS is currently in development and will offer an easy-to-use online service designed to accelerate and improve the engineering analysis of the interconnection of renewable resources. It includes an AI-enabled, centralized location for technical data, security requirements and confidentiality agreements that can automate the point of interconnection (POI) selection process from beginning to end while addressing applicable regulatory compliance and cyber security requirements.
